Founded in Flagstaff, AZ, the Little Free Art Box Project is a traveling art installation consisting of repurposed newspaper vending boxes containing free art, art supplies, and other treasures.
The Little Free Art Boxes began their travels in 2022, and are similar to the Little Free Library system. They are free spaces that are open to the public to take and/or leave something.
It’s encouraged for folks to leave something behind, but also to look through the objects and see if there is something that speaks out to them.
Folks are welcome to leave stickers, crystals, jewelry, small art pieces, art supplies, and all-around fun stuff!
Everyone is encouraged to interact with the boxes, explore the contents, share their experience with others, and come back to visit them as many times as desired, as they will always be changing and evolving.
The Little Free Art Box Project aims to foster creativity and community engagement through the gifting of art and art-related treasures. We believe that everyone should have access to art and creative supplies, promoting a culture of sharing and artistic expression.
The Boxes are community spaces to offer free art-related items. The idea is that no one is expected to pay anything to contribute, and there is no need to buy anything to participate. The Project is built on the idea of free trade and aims to be all-inclusive.
We envision a world where art is abundant and shared. By planting seeds of creativity in communities, we aim to foster kindness, expression, and connection through small, meaningful exchanges.
